The Mekong
The Mekong Delta is one of the largest and most fertile deltas in Asia and indeed in the world.
The Mekong flows for nearly 5,000km (3,100 miles) from Himalayan glaciers in Tibet, through China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Cambodia before reaching the South China Sea in Vietnam. Its fast and powerful flow earned it the title “mighty Mekong”.
It accounts for up to 25 percent of the global freshwater
With good water supply from the Red River & Mekong River as well as yearly reasonable rainfalls, Vietnam is a perfect place to grow rice.
Consisting of 12 provinces, the Mekong Delta is the most critical area for rice production in Vietnam.
